All Main Planets, Moons and Dwarf Planets of Our Solar System

In earlier days, you are studied about the planets that there are 9 planets in our solar system and then you you suddenly found out that there are 8 planets in our solar system, that is in the sequence, the Mercury, the Venus, our home the Earth, the Mars, the Jupiter, the Saturn, the Uranus, the Neptune and the last one which is not included in our solar system because it is a dwarf planet, the Pluto

In this article, we will learn about the all main Planets, Moons and Dwarf planets in our solar system, by scrolling down you read about them.

Let's start with the solar system sequence-

Sun

Sun from the solar system
Sun from the solar system
Sun is the largest planet in our solar system. It is a giant fire ball. All the planets(not moon) in our solar system revolves around the sun. The all credits for the formation of life on earth goes to the sun because of its light energy that gives life by the light to the organisms. In early times, it is believed that the Sun is the largest object in the universe but when we keep improving in our science technology, the real truth is came to our front that the Sun is the largest object but there is other more and more large objects are stand towards us, like the Quasi star and other more. The diameter of the sun is approximately 1 million kilometers, that's a huge number for a sphere.

Mercury

Mercury from the solar system
Mercury from the solar system
The smallest planet in our solar system is the Mercury and it is the nearest planet to the Sun. Mercury is one of those planets who doesn't have any moons. On planet Mercury your Birthday will come up only 88 days because Mercury have a year of about only 88 days. The diameter of Mercury is about 4,800 kilometres. Mercury is also the simplest planet of our solar system unlike the others like Earth, Mars, ect. Because of the very thin layer of atmosphere and very nearer to sun, it is the second most hottest planet in our solar system after Venus. Unfortunately Mercury has no moon.

Venus

Venus from the solar system
The hottest planet in our solar system is Venus because of its atmosphere that makes the green house effect on it. It is the second planet of our solar system that revolves around the Sun. Venus is the brightest natural object in earth night sky after moon. The diameter of Venus is about 12,000 kilometers. Unlike the other planets in the solar system, Venus can move clockwise on its axis. Amazingly a day on Venus compared to earth lasts 243. Venus completes a year of about 255 days that a bit similar to earth's one year which is 365 days. Venus has no natural satellite i.e. moon.

Earth

Earth from the solar system
Earth from the solar system
Our home planet, the Earth and the most promising habitable planet in our solar system that gives life of billions of organisms. Earth is the most beautiful planet in our solar system and it is the third of our solar system from the Sun. Earth has only one natural satellite that is the Moon. Earth has a powerful magnetic field. Earth is the densest planet in our solar system. The diameter of earth is about 12,700 kilometers. 70% of Earth's surface is covered with water and the remaining 30% is covered with land. It was believed that the earth is the center of the universe. The Astronomical Unit which is measured by the distance, from Earth to the Sun which is equal to 150 million kilometers.

Moon

The only natural satellite of the Earth is Moon. Did you know that how the moon formed?

Billions of years ago, a large Asteroid hits the Earth surface and made a large crater on the Earth and the broken parts of the Earth revolves around it and makes the Moon. The surface of the is dark but when the sunlight reflect on it, it is observe white and shiny. The stains on the Moon is actually the crater on it that formed by the asteroids. The diameter of the Moon is about 3,400 kilometers and it's distance from the Earth is about 3,84,400 kilometers.

Mars

Mars from the solar system
Mars from the solar system
Mars is also as known as the red planet of our solar system. It may be our next home planet in future because we humans don't spend all of our life span living in the same planet because after Earth, our next goal is to become a interstellar being in the universe. The diameter of Mars is about 6,700 kilometers. The largest mountain in the solar system is on the Mars named as The Olympus Mons. Mars has two moons named as the one is Phobos and the other is Deimos. In the ancient times Mars has water on it but nowadays the water is in molten state. A year on Mars is about 687 Earth days. The atmosphere of Mars is thicker but much thinner than the Earth but the amount of oxygen in its atmosphere is less than 1%. Mars produced the largest dust storm in our solar system.

Jupiter

Jupiter from the solar system
Jupiter from the solar system
You already know that Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. It is a gas giant and the fifth planet from the sun. Have you ever thought the red spot on this gigantic planet?, it is a Tornado that spins on it for a long time. Jupiter is the fastest spinning planet in our solar system. Even Earth can fit in this giant red spot comfortably. The Jupiter's magnetic field is 14 times stronger than the Earth's magnetic field. Jupiter has a diameter of about 140,000 kilometers. A year on Jupiter is about 12 Earth years. Jupiter has 79 known moons, the largest ones are the Lo, Europa, Ganymede and the Callisto.

Ganymede

Ganymede from the solar system
Ganymede from the solar system
The largest moon in our solar system is Ganymede which is a natural satellite of the largest planet in our solar system. If it was not moon of Jupiter and it revolves around the sun then we call it as a planet in our solar system. In volume Ganymede is larger than Mercury. It is made up of rocks. It has a diameter of about 5,200 kilometers.

Saturn

The planet that has the largest and the beautiful rings in our solar system that revolves around it, makes the Saturn unique among others. Saturn is the second largest planet in our solar system after Jupiter. It is also the gas giant and the sixth planet from the Sun. The planet Saturn is the most distant planet from the Earth that can be seen with the naked eyes. The diameter of Saturn is about 116,400 kilometers and if we includes it's rings then it's becomes diameter about 270,000 kilometers. A year on Saturn is about 29 Earth years.

Titan

Titan from the solar system
Titan from the solar system
Titan is the second largest natural satellite jn our solar system after Ganymede. It is the largest moon of Saturn. Surprisingly, the atmosphere of Titan is denser than Earth's atmosphere. Titan doesn't have dangerous fire volcanoes but it has ice volcanoes, kinda wondrous ha? It is believed that the life could exist on Titan because of the atmosphere and the availability of water on it. The diameter of Titan is about 5,000 kilometers.

Uranus

Uranus from the solar system

Uranus is the coldest planet in our solar system. It is the seventh planet from the Sun. You can see Uranus with your naked eyes and it may be surprise you that Uranus is the firstplanet that discovered during our modern ages from a telescope. Uranus have 27 moons, the main moons are the Miranda, the Oberon, the Ariel and the largest one is Tritonia. Uranus is also a gaseous planet. A year on Uranus is about 84 Earth years. The diameter of Uranus is about 50,000 kilometers.

Neptune

Neptune from the solar system
Neptune from the solar system
The most distant planet from the Sun is the Neptune. Neptune is the smallest gas giant in our solar system. There is only one spacecraft that has flown by Neptune. Neptune has almost 14 moons and the main ones are the Nereid, the Proteus and the largest one is Triton. The Uranus and the Neptune are like twins. The Neptune's gravity is just the Earth's gravity. The fact that Uranus is colder than Neptune but you know that Neptune is the farthest planet in our solar system. Neptune has a diameter of about 49,000 kilometers. A year on Neptune is about 165 Earth's year.

Pluto

The planet that was declared to be the 9th planet in our solar system is Pluto. Pluto is a dwarf planet that was exist in the Kuiper belt. Pluto is the largest object ever found in Kuiper belt and is the largest dwarf planet in our solar system. In 2006, Pluto was reclassified as a dwarf planet from a planet. Pluto is even smaller than Earth's moon. A year on Pluto is about 248 Earth's years. The diameter of Pluto is about 2,300 kilometers.
